You can get quick calculations done for FREE. "TooFuzzy" was kind enough to create a quick AIM Calculator for our use. It will give you your Hold Zone and the Next Trade Prices based upon your input of Portfolio Control and the trading parameters you've chosen.
Fellow AIM user and friend, Bill Riedeman, prepared a very nice Excel Template for AIM that he is willing to share for FREE to those who want to experiment with AIM. This will save you time and effort if you were thinking of writing something yourself. You'll need a copy of Excel to make it run. You can download the software and text file here.
Please take time to read Bill's text file as it will help you along the way as you use his spreadsheet. Please remember that this is a "no frills" program but is fully functional. If you have doubts about AIM's effectiveness, this program should help you gain confidence in how well AIM works.
There are now several commercial products available for tracking an AIM account. Each has its own particular value and use depending upon the needs of the individual using it. The approaches are: 1) A stand-alone software for maintaining multiple active AIM accounts; 2) A "template" for use with the commercially available spreadsheet Excel; 3) On-Line web sites where you enter information and the site gives you your AIM Buy/Sell/Hold recommendations.

Aptus Communications offers "stand alone" software for AIM. This product has great flexibility in adjusting AIM's internals. This is great for testing and understanding how AIM would react to real histories of potential investments. It's also applicable to your real time AIM accounts. One can down-load histories for testing or run real investments with this software. Graphs show price history and a stacked bar graph gives a histogram of the Equity/Cash ratio. A composite graphic showing the entire portfolio is also available.
AutomaticInvestor performs several internal functions for the user. It can help in stock selection, optimize settings based upon historical data and analyze your overall portfolio for risk.

Please feel free to review Schmetterling Tech's offerings.

A close relative to pure AIM as Mr. Lichello conceived it in 1977, Vortex uses a similar algorithm with some changes and flexibility not available with Lichello/AIM type products. Worth investigating for its similarities and differences you may find the Vortex Stock Market Program to be the right fit for your investment style.

Stocksystem.com developed the PCA system (Position Cost Averaging) to allow the investor to easily implement the AIM strategy. PCA is designed with a "download" feature to let you import historical prices directly from the internet. The ease of importing data into a spreadsheet facilitates back-testing and running simulations. This product can be used for maintaining a "real time" AIM account also. The PCA software lets you view the investment history with both line and stacked bar graphs, Profit & Loss information and comparative data to the buy and hold investor and a risk adjusted performance.
I cannot overemphasize the benefits of testing and simulation work. Your knowledge and experience gained will immediately be of benefit to you as you bring your own investment portfolio into management by AIM.

With the "stand-alone" product, almost all "spreadsheet" calculations and data are hidden from view. For those of you not familiar with spreadsheets, this will come as a blessing. Only pertinent information about the account's size, asset allocation, profitability and next trade prices are shown in a typical screen. Big, clear, understandable line and stacked bar histographs will show you where you have been, where your trades occurred and how AIM's been performing.
Histories can be built, but only by entering data manually in sequential form. This may be tedious for those trying to do "simulations" However, the beauty of this product is the ability to quickly and easily maintain almost unlimited numbers of active AIM investments, not doing simulations. Simulations don't earn us any money, investing with AIM does. Also, by installing the program to several different subdirectories, one can maintain separate accounting for many individual portfolios, each with as many AIM investments as desired.
