"Special to this event was the inaugural presentation of the "Workers' Choice Award" to Dave Hinton, voted by the corner workers for having the "favorite car" of the weekend, a 1952 XK120 Red Jaguar. Dave was presented with a checkered flag made by Chief Starter Rodney Williams' 86-year old mother and signed by the corner workers, Timing & Scoring crew and Chief Steward Charlie Earwood and company. To add to the momentous occasion, Dave was asked to do one lap around the track while waving his newly acquired memento." - from SPEEDVISION ARTICLE - Walter Mitty, May, 2001
